Protection of minors' rights in civil, administrative and family law proceedings: an in-depth overview of the law

It is hard to dispute that since the approval of the Convention on the Rights of Children and Adolescents in 1989 there has been a considerable increase in the number of states in the world, and in the European Union in particular, that have recognised a specific and strengthened set of rights and protections for children of all genders and ages, just as the UN Convention hoped. In Europe at least, to a large extent this has also been made possible by the political actions, legislation and funding of the Union (especially the Commission). Especially in the last decade, with the cooperation of the Member States, it has developed innovative initiatives aimed at improving legal systems with the aim of combating social evils such as trafficking, abuse, sexual exploitation and the disappearance of minors.

The main national and European legislation on the protection of minors' rights in civil, administrative and family law proceedings is attached.
