Two young people from the Youth Council of the Italian Ombudsperson for children (AGIA) also participated in the Enya 2023 Forum, which took place in Malta on 4 and 5 July.
The Forum – an event of the Enya project (European network of young advisors), supported by the European Network of Ombudspersons for children (and adolescents) (Enoc) – brought together 35 young people from 18 countries. This year, the topic of the project is the role of ombudsperson institutions in the promotion and protection of children's rights.
During the two-day event, the young people presented a set of eight recommendations, each for their own country, which were drawn up between February and June. The young people had their say on topics such as accessibility, visibility, powers and the engagement of independent institutions.
The objective of the Enya project is to enable children and young people – as rights-holders and experts in the environment in which they grow up – to participate in Enoc activities in order to share their experiences, express their views, make proposals and participate in the drafting of recommendations on issues that concern them and, in particular, on how to concretely ensure the protection and promotion of their rights.
