Two new reports on child mortality worldwide, prepared by the United Nations Inter-Agency Group on Child Mortality Assessment: Levels &Trends in Child Mortality, are online on the Unicef website. Report 2022 and Never Forgotten. The situation of stillbirth around the globe.

5 million children died before their fifth birthday and a further 2.1 million children and adolescents between the ages of 5 and 24 lost their lives in 2021.

The second report reveals that a further 1.9 million children were stillborn. Many of these deaths could have been avoided with equal access to primary health care for every woman and child, and high quality health care for mothers, infants, adolescents and children
