Bibliographic review on childhood and adolescence 1/2006 - Unaccompanied foreign children

copertina della Rassegna bibliografica 1/2006 - Minori stranieri non accompagnati

Within the varied panorama of current immigration, unaccompanied foreign minors constitute a ‘new’ category of migrants both in Europe and in other parts of the world. The reading of this issue, written by Clara Silva, Professor of Intercultural Pedagogy at the University of Florence and Joseph Moyersoen, Secretariat Coordinator of the European Network of National Observatories on Childhood ChildONEurope and Honorary Judge at the Juvenile Court of Milan, deals with this issue by defining which types of minors can be considered "unaccompanied". The presence of unaccompanied minors in European countries is not a new event, but the proportions reached by the phenomenon in the last 15 years are unprecedented.
