Growing rights

Publication, promoted by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies and realised by Istituto degli Innocenti of Florence in the framework of the activities of the National Centre for Documentation and Analysis on Childhood and Adolescence.

The booklet - edited by Roberta Ruggiero, a lawyer - aims to raise awareness of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child among the younger generations, targeting, in particular, children in the 11-14 age group. It is divided into five sections, which bring together a selection of some of the articles of the Convention and cover the contexts of life closest to children:

  1. the group of friends and peers;
  2. the family;
  3. school;
  4. society and the relationship with institutions;
  5. the environment and quality of life.

The underlying theme is participation, closely linked to the right of access to information, a fundamental right that enables young people to acquire the essential tools to express themselves in different contexts and thus become active and aware citizens.

The short and effective texts are accompanied by Simone Frasca's cartoons.
