The central role of literacy in a changing world: perspectives and priorities. A legal framework
"International Literacy Day", established by UNESCO on 17 November 1965, is celebrated on 8 September each year.
It is a very important anniversary because illiteracy is a blight that still afflicts many countries in the world and inevitably leads to a whole series of related problems that affect the whole of society and aggravate the situation of the most vulnerable groups in particular, including children and teenagers.
Almost 800 million people in the world - young and old - lack basic literacy...
