The Report on the project Il Buon Inizio. Il Sistema Integrato Zerosei in Italia: l’esperienza del progetto nazionale (A Good Start. The Integrated Zerosei System in Italy: The Experience of the National Project) is now online. The publication, drafter by Save the Children, recounts three years of experiences, results, challenges, and best practices, with a practical focus on building the integrated Zerosei system in Italy, as set out in Legislative Decree no. 65 of 2017.

The project, selected by the social enterprise Con i Bambini within the framework of the Fund for the Fight Against Child Educational Poverty, took place in Moncalieri, Tivoli, Locri and San Luca, with the aim of countering educational inequalities from early childhood onwards in the most fragile Italian areas.
Local hubs were created in the four municipalities involved, where schools, health and social services, together with the community, worked together to care for the youngest children and their families.

The hubs have offered educational activities for children aged 0 to 6, as well as support services for parents, such as guidance programmes to local services and access to listening centres and legal assistance. There was no shortage of free cultural initiatives aimed at the entire community.
In total, 2,250 children aged 0 to 6, almost 1,700 parents or caregivers, approximately 400 teachers and educators and over 420 operators were involved.

The Report is available on the Save the Children website.
