The search for one's origins: thematic path

The thematic track, published online in the supplement to Rassegna bibliografica 1/2018, addresses the issue of access to information about one's origins.

Raffaella Pregliasco, Researcher at Istituto degli Innocenti and Honorary Judge at the Juvenile Court of Florence, discusses the topic in depth, presenting the international framework of reference and tracing an excursus on the evolution of relevant case law.

The contribution is completed by a reflection on the psycho-social aspects of the need for knowing, since when we talk about the search for origins, it must be made clear that there are different degrees of looking for and finding information.

This filmography - written by Anna Antonini, a film scholar who has taught at the University of Trieste and collaborates with the provincial media libraries of Udine and Gorizia - examines the theme of children and young people in search of their family, cultural and geographical origins in contemporary cinema. The author dwells on Japanese animation films that deal with the subject (such as Hayao Miyazaki's Enchanted City) and on other films that focus on the search for origins, such as James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy and Garth Davis' Lion.
