The National Office against Racial Discrimination (Unar), the Unicef Office for Europe and Central Asia in Italy and the Italian Committee for Unicef have signed a three-year memorandum of understanding to promote an inclusive culture and society that overcomes prejudice, racism and discrimination, ensuring that the rights of children in Italy – in particular the most vulnerable such as migrants and refugees – are guaranteed and protected.

Under the agreement, and among other measures, the parties undertake to implement awareness-raising initiatives in favour of the rights of under 18s, through public campaigns and events, with a focus on combating prejudices related to ethnic background and origin, sexual orientation and gender identity, religion or belief, age and disability; advocacy actions towards the relevant institutions for the full enjoyment of the rights of under 18s and the values of inclusion and non-discrimination; study, research and awareness-raising activities related to prejudice, racism and discrimination, with a special focus on vulnerable groups.

In signing the protocol, the already ongoing collaboration between Unar and Unicef on the topic of unconscious bias, carried out with the OPS! campaign, which is short for "Your Opinion beyond Prejudice, against Stereotypes" (in English), continues.
