6 February marks the Safer Internet Day (SID), the World Day for Internet Security established by the European Commission. This is an important opportunity to make children and adolescents reflect not only on the conscious use of the web but also on the active and responsible role of each individual in ensuring that the Internet is a positive and safe place.
Over the years, the Day has become a key event for all practitioners, institutions and civil society organisations, now engaging more than one hundred countries worldwide. The slogan that has long been associated with it, Together for a better internet, aims to emphasise how everyone's commitment is a prerequisite for a conscious and safe use of the web.
Institutions, associations and other organisations are launching many initiatives to encourage young people to engage in discussion on this topic.
