Safer Internet Day (SID), the World Network Safety Day established by the European Commission, turns 20 on 7 February. It is a very important opportunity to lead girls and boys to reflect not only on the conscious use of the web but also "on the active and responsible role of everyone in the creation of the internet as a positive and safe place".

Many initiatives are organised by institutions, associations and other entities on the occasion of the anniversary. Here are a few of them.

The national event for schools promoted by the Ministry of Education and Merit – coordinator of the Connected Generations project, the Italian Safer Internet Centre – will take place in Rome ("Officine Farneto", via dei Monti della Farnesina 77), from 9.30 am to 1 pm, with the participation of Minister Giuseppe Valditara. dedicated news item

The seventh edition of the communication campaign for The month of online safety, promoted by the Ministry of Education and Merit and by Connected Generations. The methods used to participate are indicated on the Connected Generations website, on the dedicated page.

The Department for Family Policies of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers has launched a new campaign to raise awareness and combat cyberbullying, with the slogan Together, we win!. The campaign involved the broadcasting of a video ad, published on the Department's website, in the dedicated news item.

Two events promoted by Telefono Azzurro: Not only data. The Value of Children and Adolescents in the Digital World (Milan, 6 February) and Towards a Digital Agenda for Children and Adolescents (Rome, 7 February). Safer Internet Day Special is the event for schools organised by the non-profit Terre des Hommes Italia in collaboration with OneDay and the online community of students ScuolaZoo, which will be held in Milan (C30, headquarters of OneDayGroup, viale Cassala 30), from 10.30 am to 12 pm. WeWorld has launched the Navigating without a compass report, an analysis of the online risks and abuses of which children and adolescents are victims, around the world and in Italy. The document is available on the WeWorld website, in the "Publications" section.

Lastly, it is worth mentioning the First National Digital Education Project, a series of meetings promoted by the Luiss Laboratory on Digital Law and the Personal Data Protection Authority, carried out in partnership with Google and aimed at national higher education institutions.
