On the 11th and 12th of June, the adolescents and young people of the Youth Advisory Board (YAB) met for the second time in Rome to discuss the ongoing processes with the institutions on the priority issues dictated by the implementation of the Child Guarantee, a European Commission initiative aimed at promoting equal opportunities and guaranteeing access to essential services for children at risk of poverty or social exclusion.

The Youth Advisory Board is a mixed group of about twenty adolescents and young people, tasked with gathering the opinions of the girls and boys living in Italy and contributing to the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the actions planned under the Child Guarantee. The group was set up by UNICEF as part of the pilot phase of the Child Guarantee funded by the European Commission in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies and the Department for Family Policies of the Italian Prime Minister's Office and with the technical support of the Istituto degli Innocenti.
The two-day event in Rome created the basis for the work that Yab members will have to carry out in the second half of 2022, to enable children in Italy to be heard and to bring their voices to the institutions, and the implementing bodies in charge of the deployment of the National Action Plan for Child Guarantee.
