The survey, which involved approximately 24,000 families, 29.2% of which with under-age children, comes a few years after the previous statistical study, which had focused for the first time on aspects concerning in particular minors.
The report derives from the multi-purpose survey by ISTAT (National Statistical Institute) titled “Aspetti della vita quotidiana” (Aspects of daily life). This survey contained a specific module on childhood and adolescence which was jointly elaborated by the Ministry for Social Solidarity, by ISTAT and by the National Documentation and Analysis Centre for Childhood and Adolescence. In particular, the report focuses on the aspects of children’s and adolescents’ life at home, on their relationship with parents and grandparents, as well as on the first forms of socialization in crèches. Some of the factors examined in the survey are the role of play, the path towards autonomy (pocket money and house keys), the use of means of communication and spare time activities.
