The right to food and food security as fundamental rights of the children: a legal framework
One of the internationally guaranteed human rights is the right to food, acknowledged for the first time in Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Its significance was later confirmed in the Universal Declaration on the Eradication of Hunger and Malnutrition in 1974, as well as in subsequent acts such as the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR), which, in the course of time, have further structured the guarantee of the right and its implementation.
One striking example is the General Comment of 12 May 1999, No. E/C.12/1999/5, by the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights of the United Nations.
The main national and European legislation on the The right to food and food security as fundamental rights of the children is attached.
