Fighting against discrimination and homophobia (Zan bill): a legal framework
The bill, signed by the Hon. Alessandro Zan, presented to the Chamber on 2 May 2018, reopened the political debate on the opportunity and need for a law punishing discrimination and acts of violence arising from sexual orientation and gender identity.
The unified text of the law (resulting from the unification of several texts presented) was approved by the Chamber on 4 November 2020 and then submitted to the Senate of the Republic.
At present, Bill S-2005, with the new title "Measures to prevent and fight discrimination and violence on grounds of sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and disability", has been scheduled and is awaiting discussion and approval in the Senate...
