As laid down by art. 4, par. 2 of Presidential Decree no. 103/2007, together with the Department for Family Policies of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy is in charge both of the secretarial activities related to the functioning of the National Observatory and of providing support to the activities of the bodies of the National Documentation and Analysis Centre for Childhood and Adolescence.

The Ministry and the Department have signed a specific agreement with the Istituto degli Innocenti of Florence to carry out the activities related to the functions of the National Centre. The Istituto degli Innocenti uses the human, technical and physical resources that are necessary to carry out the research, training and documentation activities (organization of the National Centre).

As per Law no. 451/1997, as amended by Presidential Decree no. 103/2007, the Minister of Labour and Social Policy chairs the National Observatory on Childhood and Adolescence together with the Minister with responsibility for Family Policies.
