On 19 November, the 2025 National Conference on Paediatrics will be held in Rome, with a focus on The Digital Child. The event, organised by the Italian Society of Paediatrics on the initiative of Senator Marco Meloni, will bring together institutional representatives, paediatricians, psychologists, and representatives from the media and digital platforms to discuss the challenges and opportunities related to children’s use of technology in the digital and artificial intelligence era.
During the meeting, updated recommendations for families, schools, and paediatricians will be presented, based on a review of the scientific literature on the impact of digital technology on the lives of children and adolescents conducted by the Italian Society of Paediatrics. The day will begin with institutional greetings from Marco Meloni and Gianfranco Costanzo, Head of the Department for Family Policies.
The chat show “Digital Technology and Childhood: The Role of Institutions, Media, Digital Platforms, and Paediatricians” is also scheduled, featuring, among others, Barbara Strappato (Postal Police Service) and Claudia Trivilino (Meta). The Conference will take place in the Zuccari Hall of Palazzo Giustiniani (Senate of the Republic) and will be broadcast live on webtv.senato.it and the Italian Senate’s YouTube channel.
