The new Report Card 19 from the UNICEF Innocenti Research Centre focuses on the well-being of children and adolescents. It presents a complex picture: on the one hand, it highlights significant improvements in children’s well-being over the past 25 years; on the other hand, it flags worrying trends observed in the past five years, including declines in life satisfaction and academic performance across most of the 43 European Union and OECD countries examined.

The publication analyses recent trends in the well-being of children and adolescents over a five-year period, in relation to the same six key indicators considered in the 2020 Report Card 16: life satisfaction, adolescent suicide, child mortality, overweight, academic proficiency and social skills. The text also examines trends in specific well-being indicators for those under 18, starting from the year 2000, when the first Innocenti Report Card was published.

The English version of the publication, entitled Child Well-Being in an Unpredictable World, is available on the Unicef website.
