In the contemporary socio-economic landscape, work-life balance has been such a significant issue that, since the 1990s, the European Union has chosen to move toward a renewed balance for parents in managing family and work life.

Some legislative measures in this regard are Resolution No. 2000/C218/02 of 29 June 2000 of the EU Council and the Ministers responsible for Employment and Social Policy on the balanced participation of women and men in family and working life, as well as Directive No. 2000/78/EC of 27 November 2000 of the EU Council establishing a general framework for equal treatment in employment and working conditions.

At national level, the issue of work-life balance intersects with the State welfare system, i.e., the set of policies aimed at protecting the most vulnerable groups. In Italy, State welfare has expanded measures to support parenting and promoted the role of fathers.

Attached is a regulatory framework on promoting the role of the father figure.
