The National Guidelines for Intervention in Relation to Children and Families in Vulnerable Situations were approved on 21 December 2017 in the Joint Conference. They are the result of a long-term collaborative effort within a national institutional table composed of representatives from the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, the Conference of Regional and Autonomous Province Leaders, and the Scientific Group of the University of Padua, which started the implementation of the PIPPI Programme (aimed at preventing children and young people being taken from their families) in 2011.

The document addresses the issue of care and protection intervention measures in relation to children in their family environment, with a special focus on interventions aimed at preventing children being taken away.
