Voluntary Guardianship, 6th and 7th Monitoring Reports of the Italian Ombudsperson for Children [1]

The 6th and 7th Monitoring Reports on the Voluntary Guardianship System prepared by the Italian Ombudsperson for Children and Adolescents are online. The Reports cover, respectively, the period from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2023 and the period from 1 January 2024 to 30 June 2024.
According to the findings of the 7th Report, voluntary guardians registered in the lists maintained by the Juvenile Courts reached a total of 4,273, marking an overall increase of 6.59% compared to the figure recorded on 31 December 2023 (4,009).
At 30 June 2024, there were 5,986 voluntary guardianships in progress, a figure that was substantially stable compared to the survey of 31 December 2023 (6,026 guardianships).
As many as 137 training courses for aspiring voluntary guardians were launched and completed in the first half of 2024, 19 of which were organised by the Italian Ombudsperson for Children and Adolescents.
