First National Child Listening Day [1]

9 April marks the first National Day for Listening to Children, established by Law no. 104 of 4 July 2024 to raise awareness of the importance of giving children and adolescents an active and participatory role in the choices that directly affect them.
The institutional event to celebrate the Day will include, in addition to speeches by institutional representatives, workshops with adolescents on listening, personal accounts from young influencers and artists, a meeting between young people and institutions, and the screening of a short film on the topic of the anniversary.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Policies has also launched a communication campaign [6] aimed at both adults and under-18s.
Its aim is to raise awareness among parents, educators and families on the importance of truly listening to children and adolescents, and to strengthen in young people the awareness of their right to be heard and to have their voices heard in decision-making processes involving them.
To further explore the theme of the Day, the following study materials selected from the Innocenti A. C. Moro Library are recommended: Bibliographic research on listening to minors [7].
Further materials and news can be found on this site under Children's right to be heard [3] and Child participation and leadership [4], accessible from the “Topics” navigation menu.
