WeWorld has published a report entitled “Her Future at Risk. The Cost of Humanitarian Crises on Women and Girls” highlighting how global humanitarian crises disproportionately affect women and girls, increasing poverty, gender-based violence and discrimination. The analysis focuses on eight countries heavily affected by protracted crises: Afghanistan, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Palestine and Ukraine.

The report emphasises that humanitarian crises and conflicts exacerbate gender and generational inequalities, especially in protracted circumstances. Despite evidence that women-led initiatives strengthen crisis recovery and community stability, women are still under-represented in humanitarian leadership.

The report also points out that intersectional discrimination amplifies inequalities, making women even more vulnerable.
