“Our Voice Counts” is the title of the new Unicef report that collects and analyses data from surveys conducted in 2024 through U-Report on The Move, the listening and participation platform designed to give a voice to adolescents and young migrants and refugees in Italy.

The report highlights the main challenges these young people face on a daily basis, such as the problem of safety, the risk of discrimination, the impact of the reception process on their mental health, and difficulties in education.

Six out of ten of the young respondents stated that the reception process has had a negative impact on their mental health.

In its conclusions, the document makes a number of recommendations to institutions such as: strengthening access to useful services, including mental health services, and to education and inclusion opportunities; ensuring quality reception services; promoting anti-discrimination awareness campaigns; and fostering listening and participation mechanisms.
