Gender and education: thematic path

The supplement to Rassegna bibliografica 4/2014 addresses the relationship between gender and education.

This reading path, edited by Irene Biemmi, Pedagogical Researcher and Trainer, is a training itinerary for those involved in education and training at various levels (educators, teachers, coordinators of educational services, experts in training processes, pedagogists, librarians, parents, etc.) and who are interested in learning more about the formation of female and male identity.

The filmographic journey, curated by Marco Dalla Gassa, offers a critical reflection on gender differences in cinema through the description of six characters who, on the one hand, embody sexist stereotypes (see the protagonists of The Breakfast Club, Mean Girl and Nemiche) and, on the other, take different paths with respect to the conventions dictated by their gender. This is the case of Billy, who becomes a dancer (Billy Elliot), Jess a football player (Bend It Like Beckham), while Patricia flies a plane in the 1910 aviation race from London to Paris (Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines).
